Traxxas Slash 4x4 VX3 brushless 3S RTR – 1/10 short course truck

For years the Slash has set the standard for what a short course truck should do: take a beating, go fast and be fun. This version turns things up considerably with the new Velineon 3S brushless system. Is it fast? YES! Over 80 km/h straight out of the box – without having to fiddle with the gearing first. The V3200 motor delivers speed, power and good efficiency, and the fan-cooled VX3 speed controller keeps its cool while you give it full throttle. If you need to change settings, Traxxas EZ-Set does it at the press of a single button. That is clever!

Speed is only fun if the car can also be steered. That is why the battery and electronics sit as low as possible in the low-slung chassis, giving you higher cornering speed and a car that stays settled on the road. The new aerodynamic body cuts through the air and creates more downforce – the result is sharp steering and a Slash that runs straight as an arrow with the throttle wide open. The body is held by strong clipless latches that you release in a moment when the battery needs changing. Even the underside has been thought through: it is completely smooth, so it creates less drag and does not get hung up on edges and bumps.

Under the car you will find the new long-travel composite GTR shocks. They hold over 70 % more oil than the standard Ultra Shocks and give an unusually smooth ride – even when the landings get hard. X-ring seals keep the oil in and the dirt out, spring preload and ride height are easy to adjust on the threaded collar, and the spring retainers are screwed on, so they do not pop off in the middle of a jump. The chassis is long and reinforced with built-in ribs in a triangular structure. Choose a 2S or 3S LiPo battery and you are ready to go – this is a Slash we at Hobbyviking would happily keep in our own car boot.
