Here you will find wooden ship model kits from Billing Boats – over 60 different kits of famous ships such as HMS Victory, RMS Titanic, USS Constitution, the frigate Jylland, Mayflower and Elbjørn. The range goes from small, manageable dinghies and fishing boats to large scale models in 1:33, 1:60, 1:75, 1:100 and 1:144, and is aimed both at the beginner who wants to try a first model and at the experienced modeller with many hours in the workshop.

Choose by experience and time first: smaller kits such as Torborg, Esperance and Le Bayard cost from approx. DKK 300 and are quick to get started with, while the large ships with wooden hulls and full rigging are projects lasting many months. Also check whether the hull is wood (wooden hull) or moulded plastic (plastic hull) – a plastic hull makes the build easier – and whether the kit comes with a photo manual.

We have a shop and workshop in Nørresundby, Denmark, where you can see the kits in real life, and we are happy to advise on choosing a model, tools and glue.

Sådan vælger du dit træbyggesæt

Skala og størrelse afgør både byggetid og hvor meget plads modellen kræver bagefter. Et 1:20-sæt af en lille jolle fylder langt mindre end en 1:75 HMS Victory eller 1:144 RMS Titanic. Overvej derfor:

  • Erfaring: begyndersæt med få dele og fotomanual, før du går i gang med fuldrigger.
  • Skrogtype: plastskrog (plastic hull) er nemmere og hurtigere; træskrog (wooden hull) med spanter og planker giver den klassiske byggeoplevelse.
  • Vejledning: flere sæt leveres med fotomanual, hvor hvert trin vises på billeder.
  • Plads: mål op, inden du bestiller de store modeller.

Begynder eller øvet?

Er det din første model, så start med et lille sæt som Torborg, Esperance eller Le Bayard fra ca. 300 kr. Har du bygget før, er Mayflower, HMS Endeavour og Fregatten Jylland naturlige næste skridt, mens HMS Victory, HMS Warrior og Titanic er projekter for den erfarne.

Hvilket træbyggesæt er bedst til en begynder?

Start med et lille sæt med få dele, gerne med fotomanual – for eksempel Torborg, Esperance eller Le Bayard, der ligger fra ca. 300 kr.

Sæt med plastskrog er også et godt valg som det første projekt, fordi du slipper for at planke skroget og hurtigere ser et resultat.

Hvad er forskellen på wooden hull og plastic hull?

Wooden hull betyder, at skroget bygges op af spanter og træplanker, mens plastic hull er et færdigstøbt plastskrog, som resten af modellen bygges på.

Træskrog giver den mest autentiske byggeoplevelse og tager længst tid; plastskrog er hurtigere og mere tilgivende for nye modelbyggere.

Hvor lang tid tager det at bygge en skibsmodel i træ?

Det svinger fra få weekender til flere hundrede timer. Små joller kan bygges på nogle aftener, mens store modeller som HMS Victory, HMS Warrior eller RMS Titanic typisk er projekter over mange måneder.

Hvilket værktøj og lim skal jeg bruge?

Som minimum skal du bruge en skarp hobbykniv, små klemmer, sandpapir og trælim – og maling eller beits til finishen.
