TRX-4 Crawler Chevrolet K10 ´79 – ready-to-run trail truck

Remember the pickups from the days when cars had edges? Here is one – in 1/10. The body is factory-painted and fitted without clips, so the lines are clean all the way round. Chrome bumpers, side mouldings and side markers shine, the grille is two-tone and detailed, and both windscreen wipers and door handles are in place. The windows are clear, so nothing breaks the illusion when it stands on the trail looking like the real thing. The aluminium-look mag wheels carry 1.9" Canyon Trail™ tyres – and they are sticky. We at Hobbyviking are rather fond of them.

But it is not just about looks. Traxxas' portal axles give you 80 mm of ground clearance under the centre AND handling that makes the truck easy to place on the rocks. Power goes through shaft-driven 4WD, and both the front and rear axles are permanently locked – no differentials, in other words. Can one wheel spin freely while the others stand still? NO! All four wheels pull equally, all the time. The gearbox has a single speed with steel gears – Traxxas-Tough and practically maintenance-free. Without extra gears the chassis becomes lighter with a lower centre of gravity and better weight distribution, so you get a slimmer, more driving-focused truck that handles more kinds of climbs. 2.63 kg, 566 mm long and on an extended steel ladder-frame chassis – that is clever!

The servo is a 2075X with metal gears, digital, waterproof and with plenty of torque, and the TQ 2.4 GHz transmitter has cruise control, so you can let the truck crawl along at its own pace. Skill level 1 – you are up and running straight away.
