Darkseid is filled with intrigue, conquest, and war: - Usurpation and Ascent: Darkseid, originally named Uxas, was the younger prince of Apokolips. He plotted to assassinate his older brother Drax, seized and acquired the powerful force known as the "Omega Effect," and in the process transformed into a giant with a rocky exterior, changing his name to Darkseid. After his father, Yuga Khan, was trapped while exploring the Source Wall, Darkseid's mother, Queen Heggra, took control of Apokolips. Because his mother sent someone to assassinate the female scientist Suli, whom he loved, Darkseid ordered Desaad to poison his mother, completely forsaking his emotions and usurping the throne and divine position of Apokolips.
