Description
BSI Finish-Cure 20 min. epoxy for laminating – 128 g
For a great finish! Finish-Cure 20 min. is a low-odour replacement for polyester resin. You can use it to laminate glass cloth onto wood – or on its own as a surface coat that is ready for primer and paint. It is the easiest of all BSI epoxies to sand and is ideal for sheeting foam-core wings.
Used in a cup (one ounce or more), the working time is 20 minutes, and in thin layers approx. 40 minutes. It cures fully in 8 hours.
Features
- Low-odour replacement for polyester resin
- Laminating glass cloth onto wood and onto the inside of fibreglass fuselages
- Surface coat ready for primer and paint
- Easiest BSI epoxy to sand
- Ideal for sheeting foam wings
Specifications
- Contents: 128 g (4 1/2 oz)
- Working time: 20 minutes in a cup / approx. 40 minutes in thin layers
- Full cure: 8 hours
- Suitable for: Balsa, hardwood, fibreglass (best), white foam, laminating (best) and water-resistant surfaces (best)
How to use it: For light glass cloth: lay the cloth on the balsa and brush Finish-Cure through it. When it is saturated, go over it with a heat gun and scrape off excess epoxy with a stiff piece of card (a playing card works well). Repeat the heating and scraping a few times for a light finish. For heavy cloth, apply the epoxy both before and after laying the cloth. When sheeting foam wings, apply Finish-Cure to the wood – not to the foam. Once dry, sand lightly, fill with lightweight filler, scrape off with card and sand smooth, ready for primer.
Please note: Finish-Cure is NOT a structural epoxy but is meant for coating and finishing. The area must be kept above 75 °F for 8 hours for a proper cure. For light glass cloth, the epoxy should be warmed to above 29 °C (85 °F). If it is colder than 21 °C (70 °F), go over the surface with a heat gun several times during the next 2 hours – or warm the bottles (without caps) in the microwave for 20 seconds (less time for partly filled bottles). Uncured epoxy is best removed with acetone or isopropyl alcohol.
Please note: Contains epoxy resin and polyamine resin and may cause skin irritation. In case of skin contact, wash with soap and water. Do not swallow. Use good ventilation, and keep the product out of the reach of children.
