Description

In 1976, within the framework of motor racing competitions, the FIA introduced a new Group 5 category reserved for "special" production cars. The new rules required a body width equal to normal series production, on which, however, it was possible to fit larger wheel arches to take advantage of wider tracks and larger tyres. BMW entered Group 5 competitions with a dedicated version of its new flagship model, the E21 "320". A new aerodynamic profile was created that integrated the large wheel arches, and it was also fitted with a powerful 300 HP engine. The car was successfully used by the official BMW team and also as a development platform for young, new drivers.

The finished model measures 19.9 cm.
