The "Land Rover" was certainly one of the most famous symbols of "Made in England" on four wheels and is a true milestone in the history of off-road vehicles. Born after the war, with the first prototypes made in 1947, to handle both civilian and military tasks. Inspired by, but not directly derived from, the American Jeep, it was characterised by 4x4 drive and a strong, reliable frame to successfully tackle the most difficult and demanding tracks. The aluminium body made it lighter, while also more resistant to corrosion and longer-lasting. By 1971, when the Series III was introduced, more than a million units had already been produced for both civilian and military use. Available in the 109-inch "long wheelbase".
