"The motorhome manufacturer Westfalia recognised early on that the VW T1 was the ideal vehicle for camping and has offered a camping conversion as an accessory since 1950. In 1961 came the permanent conversion to the camper van, which included four beds, several cupboards and a hob, among other things. With the optionally available pop-top roof, even adults could stand upright in the camper.
