The AW101 Merlin is a medium-heavy multirole helicopter developed by AgustaWestland (now Leonardo) in cooperation with Westland Helicopters. It was designed and developed based on requirements from both the British Royal Navy and the Italian Navy to replace the now-outdated SH-3D "Sea King". From the early 2000s, its primary role has been as a dedicated anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopter. However, due to its operational flexibility, it is also well suited, in its various configurations, to troop transport, maritime search and rescue (SAR) and combat SAR (CSAR) missions. It is able to operate in extreme weather conditions and across all operational environments. Powered by three engines, the Merlin reaches a maximum speed of 310 km/h and has a range of over 1,350 km.


The finished model measures 31.6cm.
