Baron Manfred von Richthofen and his red Fokker triplane wrote history in the First World War. The Dr.1 was the most manoeuvrable of all the aircraft in service and achieved high rates of climb. The Dr.1s, delivered to the front in June 1917, were withdrawn from front-line service at the end of 1917, but Richthofen continued to fly them until April 1918.
