Aeronautica Militare 100th anniversary – new parts – PE sheet – super decal sheet

Designed by the famous engineer Mario Castoldi, the Macchi MC 200 represented a significant production development among Italian fighter aircraft. Compared with the biplanes Fiat CR 32 and Fiat CR 42, which were the main Italian fighter squadrons at the start of the Second World War, the Macchi MC 200, together with its contemporary the Fiat G50, stood out for its monoplane configuration and all-metal airframe structure. The 14-cylinder radial Fiat A.74 RC 38 twin-row engine could produce 840 hp and allowed the Macchi MC 200 to reach speeds of 500 km/h. Compared with Allied fighters, this resulted in it being somewhat underpowered and, nonetheless, having a lower rate of fire. Two 12.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns mounted above the characteristic bulged nacelle were the only armament carried on board. It was deployed by the Regia Aeronautica on the main fronts of the Second World War: Africa, the Mediterranean, the Balkans and Russia.

The finished model measures 17cm.
