"This economical, reliable little T3 van was built from 1979 onwards. The completely newly developed vehicle, with its practical modern shape, was noticeably more spacious than its predecessors. As the last rear-engined type made by VW, it was regarded as the last true ""Bully"". The 4-cylinder engine produced 50 to 112 hp depending on the version. As usual, the van appeared in various commercial vehicle versions and also as a motorhome for private use. The successful ""Joker"" version in particular, from the company Westfalia in Gütersloh, with whom VW had cooperated since the 1950s, enjoyed great popularity. The Westfalia Joker was extremely well suited as a multi-purpose vehicle for commuting to work, routine daily use and also longer holiday trips. Sales of more than 70,000 of this ""home on wheels"" attest to its great popularity at home and abroad. Its comfortable living area with integrated driver's cab had a complete kitchen unit, seats and beds, storage cupboards and a practical lifting roof."
