Description

When Titanic was launched, she became the world's largest ship, as she was the heaviest. 14 April 1912: 23:39: A huge iceberg is spotted by Frederick Fleet and Reginald Lee from Titanic's crow's nest. Officer William Murdoch puts the ship's engines to full stop and gives the order „Hard to starboard“, but they do not avoid the iceberg. Titanic has only 37 seconds to react, from the moment the iceberg is sighted until they strike it. 02:20: Titanic disappears beneath the surface of the sea, leaving over 1,000 people in the freezing cold water. Around 500 are believed never to have made it off the ship.
