Description

The first record of the Mayflower is dated 6 September 1620. After some initial difficulties, the vessel sailed from Plymouth, England, with 102 men, women and children on board. After 67 days at sea, the Mayflower anchored in the harbour later named Provincetown – almost 200 English miles further north than planned. The Mayflower II was built in 1957 in Brixham, Devon, and sailed to the USA, where she now lies at anchor as a lasting gift to the American people.
