A færing (fembøring) from Northern Norway. This type of boat dates from the 17th century.

As a fishing boat it had its heyday in the 18th century, until motorised fishing boats arrived. The Nordland boats were incredibly efficient and highly seaworthy.

They represent a boat culture and hull shape that originates from the Viking ships. Even today, these boats are still built. They take part in meets and regattas along the Norwegian coast.
