Velineon VXL-3S brushless speed controller – waterproof

Do you want your car to run on 3S LiPo without the speed controller breaking a sweat? Then the VXL-3S is the answer. It offers forward and reverse, drives brushless motors with no motor limit and handles everything from 4-cell NiMH/NiCad up to 11.1 volt 3S LiPo. With 320 A peak, 200 A continuous and a resistance of just 0.00075 ohm, the MOSFET electronics have plenty in reserve when you push the throttle all the way. Power flows through 12-gauge Maxx wire, Traxxas' patented High-Current Connector and gold-plated 3.5 mm bullet connectors to the motor, so no watts are wasted along the way.

Rain, puddles and mud? No problem. The case is waterproof with rubber seals and O-rings, while the aluminium micro-fin heat sink and the built-in port for an extra fan keep the temperature down. If it still gets hot, two-stage thermal protection kicks in, and together with Locked Rotor Protection, Battery Over-Voltage Protection and two-stage low-voltage detection it protects itself, the motor and your LiPo packs. We at Hobbyviking especially like Training Mode: it limits the throttle to 50 %, so the little ones can practise – and when it is Dad's turn, you switch to Sport or Race with a single press. Clever!

You may already know the setup from the XL-5 family – one press of the EZ-Set button, and a multi-colour LED tells you what is going on. It does not get easier than that.
