Description

Tea clipper launched in 1869. Length 85.34 m, beam 10.97 m, draught 6.4 m, displacement 2,133 t. The most famous of the clipper ships, Cutty Sark, is today preserved for posterity in a dry dock in Greenwich. She was built to carry tea from China and was designed by Hercules Linton with the aim of beating Thermopylae, believed at the time to be the fastest ship afloat.
