The EMO XL2 is the second model in Cross RC's series of mass-produced 1/8 scale crawlers in a 6X6 configuration. The car is a completely new design, based on real 6X6 conversions and combining this with the demands placed on a true climbing car.

The driveline is built around a portal-type propshaft and a double-reversing portal axle structure. The car has independent front and rear differential locks (the rear twin axles are controlled together), a two-speed transmission in heavy-duty all-metal construction, and from the factory you can choose between a Haoying brushless or a powerful 775 brushed motor combination, ensuring both performance and strength.

The third-axle suspension is reinforced with CNC-machined aircraft-grade aluminium combined with composite fibre, giving high strength with low weight and a better driving experience. The EMO X platform has now gone through 4 generations, and the EMO XL2 introduces the latest 2025 version of the reinforced portal output axle architecture for protection in extreme conditions.

The gearbox has metal gears in a reversing transmission with a CNC motor mount in aircraft-grade aluminium that helps cool the motor, while the internal gears combine machining and MIM injection technology for high strength, wear resistance and low noise. The whole car has ABEC3-grade precision bearings for quiet, smooth operation and longer service intervals. The suspension links are 7 mm 304 stainless steel, which is hard-wearing and rust-free and also lowers the centre of gravity, while the ball ends are upgraded to a larger, reinforced version for better durability. The 21 mm CNC shock absorbers with vacuum-coated piston shafts are filled with 350 CST shock oil and fully assembled at the factory for optimal damping.

The heavy-duty reinforcing frame rail has a 200% larger cross-section, which increases strength and makes the car suitable for hard driving with a powerful motor conversion. The front and rear portal axles are made from imported weather-resistant nylon that withstands temperatures down to minus 20 degrees Celsius. The whole car uses 4 high-strength all-metal propshafts, and the second-generation balance link system has updated geometry compared with the original EMO X Rhino design from 2022, improving control of the centre of gravity at high speed without affecting the shock absorbers.

The car has 2.2" lightweight nylon wheels with TALON MT tyres in synthetic material with high grip, good durability and puncture resistance. It has a powerful light group with radiator grille warning lights, several light modes and remote control. The whole car runs on a 7.4V high-voltage circuit with full control of gear shifting and differential locks. Power options include a Haoying-customised 4S 880 speed controller, a linear 775 brushed motor or a Haoying 1:8 FOC brushless power pack, as well as an unpowered ARTR version for the most experienced drivers. The RTR version comes with a 6-channel radio system, with a transmitter that offers a wide range of functions.
