Tamiya Diorama Texture Clay – soil effect, dark earth, 150 g

The ground is half of a good diorama. Tamiya's Texture Clay is a light, coloured modelling clay mixed with plastic particles that convincingly recreates uneven ground and tracks left by caterpillar tracks and tyres – the perfect addition to the Diorama Texture Paint series. This version is dark earth and can be mixed with the brown one.

The clay is water-based, so it hardly smells and does not make a mess of your hands. Use it for dioramas from 1/6 to 1/48.

What you also need

• Rigid display base
• Glue: Tamiya Craft Bond or wood glue (not plastic cement or superglue – the clay does not stick by itself like putty)
• Stiff toothbrushes for dabbing texture into the surface

Note: How to do it: knead the clay, apply a thin layer of glue to the base, add a thin layer of clay, dab with stiff brushes for texture, press in tracks/tyres and leave to dry. Do not press an assembled model into the clay – it may be damaged.
