If you run a lot of power through a standard Magnum gearbox, you know where it gives way first. That is why Traxxas has rethought the entire transmission from the ground up — it was developed specifically for the Drag Slash, where everything is about getting the power down onto the tarmac without anything breaking. The result is a complete performance redesign of the Magnum: a reinforced, redesigned transmission case with extra strength and stiffness, a low-profile design with a low centre of gravity that makes the car noticeably better to handle, and an ultra-stiff wheelie bar mount, so the rear does not twist when you launch.

Inside, things have been stepped up too. The top shaft is hardened steel with a press-fit top gear, so it can handle hard launches. The motor plate is 3.2 mm aluminium — it makes the whole construction stiffer and also improves heat dissipation. Smart when things get fast! The differential is sealed with hardened steel bevel gears, and it can be tuned with silicone diff oil. Need to adjust or service it? No problem — the diff is easy to get to and simple to remove again.

It comes complete and assembled, works with the fixed gear mesh system and fits straight into both the standard and VXL versions of the 1/10 2WD Bandit, Rustler, Stampede and Slash. An upgrade we at Hobbyviking are happy to recommend if your gearbox has become the weak link.
