Traxxas Rustler 2WD VX3 Brushless RTR – 40th Edition

How fast does a stadium truck actually go? Here the answer is approx. 96 km/h on 3S LiPo – and without you having to touch the gearing. The new Velineon 3S power system with V3200 motor and VX3 speed controller takes 11.1 volts with a smile; both are fan-cooled, so they keep their cool even when you do not. Only have 2S batteries in the drawer? Then it still does approx. 64 km/h. Programming is handled with Traxxas EZ-Set: one button, done. At Hobbyviking we happily admit that we laughed a little the first time we gave it full throttle.

Speed is one thing – keeping the car on its wheels is another. That is why composite GTR shocks sit on all four corners. They hold over 70 % more oil than the regular Ultra Shocks, have X-ring seals, and you set spring preload and ride height on the threaded collar. The spring seats are locked with a screw, so they stay where they should. The revised, ultra-soft suspension soaks up bumps and jumps, while the new metal-gear servo with 15 % more torque steers sharply through the improved bellcrank steering with cam-style servo saver. The whole geartrain is metal – it lasts.

And then the body: no body clips! A hidden latch system with strong latches holds it in place, the panels are reinforced, and the moulded rear wing is borrowed from the Rustler 4X4. Clever – and you no longer have to search for clips in the grass. It is RTR, so unpack it, put a battery in and drive.
