The Supermarine Spitfire needs little introduction, one of the best known aircraft deployed by the Royal Air Force in the Battle of Britain, as British and German forces struggled for control of the skies over the English Channel.

The Mk.I had a streamlined form with elliptical wings designed for speed, and was powered by a Merlin engine. Now, this legendary bird gets a completely new tooling for an updated appearance in the 1/48 Aircraft Series!

• The model can be assembled with the canopy section open or closed. Fuselage parts are molded so as the section revealed by an open canopy is realistically thin.
• Three types of front canopy are included; two with different bulletproof glass designs, and one without.
• Features flat style sliding canopy section with knockout panel.
• 1-piece main landing gear gives solid, fuss-free assembly and allows depiction of angle.
• The floorless cockpit is packed with details, and the bulkheads and fuselage frame are also visible.
• Initial variant Mk.I sight is recreated with photo-etched parts.
