The sun goes down — but your Unlimited Desert Racer doesn't! With this Pro-Scale High Intensity LED kit you get no fewer than 204 LEDs spread across two straight light bars in the bumper (52 LEDs each), a curved light bar on the roof (52 LEDs) and a multifunction brake/marker light bar at the rear with 24 red and 24 amber LEDs. It looks like a real desert racer, and it lights up like one! And the clever part: the brake light is fully functional and works when you brake both forwards and in reverse. It is a Traxxas first, and it solves the classic problem where the brake light came on every time you reversed. Now it only lights up when you are actually braking.

The brain of the kit is an 8-channel high-voltage power amplifier. It draws power directly from the batteries via the Power Port on your VXL-6s ESC — not from the BEC — and transforms and regulates it into strong, stable light output. The result? No flickering and no dimming, even when the battery voltage fluctuates while driving. We at Hobbyviking are rather excited about how easy it is to install: the main plug from the amplifier goes into the ESC's Power Port, and the individual light modules click into the amplifier. The wiring is hidden and colour-coded, so you don't have to guess. On the amplifier you choose between three manual light modes, e.g. high beam and low beam. All mounting hardware is in the box, and the whole kit is robust and fully waterproof — so go right ahead through the puddle.

Want even more control? Then connect the Traxxas Link app and Wireless Module #6511. From there you can control the individual lights remotely, switch them on and off, build your own dashboard and customise light configurations and actions exactly the way you want them. The kit can be expanded with more lighting components, and the firmware is updated via the app. You can buy it as a complete kit here — or as individual components if you want to build up at your own pace.
