Learn hands-on how the UGEARS DIFFERENTIAL works:

The Differential is a stylised educational model, an interactive study guide to the mechanism, for learning its essential working principles. The differential is designed to let the drive wheels on the same axle rotate at different speeds and cover different distances at the same time. This mechanism allows the car to turn without the wheels slipping, reduces tyre wear and makes it easier for the driver to enter and exit corners. Once you have assembled the differential, you can unlock it by pushing the lever to position 1 (Up) and set both wheels in motion by turning the drive wheel or a wheel. The control lever regulates the smooth locking of the left and right wheels independently by turning it to the left or right respectively. In the lever's "down" position, both wheels are joined in a rigid coupling and can either rotate together (driven by the drive wheel or one wheel) or lock at the same time (using the wheel lever).
